Are you interested in racing with ICC?
We are looking for 20 riders (10 women and 10 men, no prior experience needed) to be part of our 2024 Racing Team, focusing on criteriums and road races. Slots are open to current members and non-members alike.

WHAT’S OUR OFFER?
Coaching
We will provide riders with free coaching for 8 months, starting from March through to October 2024. The coaching will be delivered by ICC Coach Richard Liston. The offer consists of:
1) Initial Consultation - in the form of a quick meeting to discuss rider history, goals / aspirations, training schedule. Likely to be delivered in small groups.
2) Training plans - delivered on TrainingPeaks either fortnightly or monthly (to be agreed on). These will follow roughly the same schedule for racers that have similar goals.
3) Rider support - a time allocation of 1h per week max to answer riders' questions. This is likely to happen in a dedicated forum section for racers, so that other members of the team can benefit from the answers provided to others.
4) Weekly sessions - on a Saturday, alongside the people that are already being coached.
5) Ability to upgrade - riders can upgrade to a more comprehensive, individualised offering for £55 a month extra.
Subsidised license or race entries
We will help riders get into racing by providing them with a 2024 British Cycling race license, worth £40. Should a rider already have a license, the club will be able to reimburse £40 worth of race entries.
nutrition advice
Riders will be offered free nutrition support and advice delivered by a qualified sports nutritionist.
Other perks
The Team will have access to a private section of the ICC Forum, to discuss all things racing and coaching. There will also be a private WhatsApp chat where riders can arrange training and race meetups. What’s more, the club has put aside a budget to subsidise transport to the more inaccessible races.
WHAT DO WE ASK OF YOU?
Entry contribution
If you get accepted into the Racing Team, we ask for a small contribution of £50 — that is on top of Islington Cycling Club membership if you are not already a member.
Racing commitment
We ask riders in our Racing Team to commit to taking part in at least 3-5 criterium or road races in 2024.
Volunteering commitment
Islington Cycling Club is a club that’s entirely run by volunteers, so we would ask all members of the Racing Team to spend at least 5 hours volunteering for the club in 2024. We have plenty of volunteering opportunities — ranging from helping out on an intro ride to supporting club-run events, marshalling etc.
